George Formby Tribute

Make a booking here!

Matthew started out playing the music of George Formby, and so is highly trained and experienced in bringing to life his tribute of the banjolele-playing star, as well as music from similar artists from the same era. Perfect for any vintage events such as fayers, heritage railways, re-enactments or WWII societies. Repertoire includes traditional songs from Formby, Vera Lynn and many more, as well as early jazz from dixieland, big band and beyond, such as Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Glenn Miller and more.

“…I knew it was going to be good, but I didn’t know it would be THAT good!”

Anon., 2017

Matthew can perform solo or with his backing band (piano, bass, drums, horn). As a soloist, Matthew can fit into smaller spaces or tight spots, and the fee will also be reduced. However, hiring Matthew to bring along his band brings an extra dimension to the performance, especially helping to amplify the volume in large outdoor spaces (railway stations, large halls) and to enhance the authenticity of the music.

Performance lengths are totally flexible and are up to the discretion of the venue and organiser. For this reason, fees are determined on a case-by-case basis, so please get in touch for more details. Matthew (with or without his band) can appear for a short spot in a concert amongst other artists, or perform for an entire day (with breaks) should you desire.
