Matthew Quilliam is a popular, versatile and award-winning musician specialising in a range of styles. Performing in ensembles and as a capable soloist, he is most well-known for his upbeat comedy show that he performs at pubs and festivals, but he also performs vintage songs in care homes and instrumental jazz and classical music for functions and concerts.

He also teaches, conveniently located for lessons in Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex and he is available for online lessons for people further afield. He does many festival workshops such as two advanced workshops at the upcoming Bracklesham Ukulele Festival in October. He is also releasing some music theory lessons on YouTube specifically for ukulele players covering all sorts of intermediate and advanced concepts in an easy to understand way.
As a composer he has a range of exciting new projects is working on such as composing a couple of sonatas for ukulele and piano that he hopes to publish soon as well as composing a film score that is to be performed live, accompanying a film that Matthew has made himself. This is due to take place in a cinema concert in December although check out his website to stay up to date as it is likely to be postponed for obvious reasons.
Currently studying music at Chichester Conservatoire, Matthew has performed alongside or opening for some big acts such as John Otway, Jools Holland, Pete Lincoln, Peter Moss and more.
He has also had the opportunity to play at large gigs such as WEYFEST 2017, Shrewkfest 2018/19, Isle of Wight Ukulele Festival 2016/18 and on tour across the UK and in USA, Germany and Poland.
Matthew has been fortunate enough to have participated in a recording session in Abbey Road Studios and to have sung in concerts in Guildford and Chichester Catherdrals and at Swindon Oktoberfest to over 2000 people.
Media and publications that have featured Matthew include BBC Radio West Sussex, UKE Magazine and Paul Mansell’s The Ukulele Sessions.
Matthew is a multi-award winner; he recently become GSMC Best Solo Male Act (1st place 2020, 2nd place 2019) as well as winning multiple local talents shows like Berkshire’s Got Talent and Farnborough’s Got Talent throughout the years.
The musicians Matthew performs with are hand-picked professionals with credits such as performances with the HYO in the Royal Albert Hall or are currently studying at Trinity Laban, Royal Academy of Music or Oxford University.
