Matthew is a confident bassist, experienced on electric bass guitar and upright/double bass in jazz, rock, pop, funk, soul and folk styles, available for band and pit work.
Since 2016, bass playing has been a prominent part of Matthew’s musical career. He has performed at weddings, functions, pubs and parties with a variety of professional bands spanning multiple genres. He can interact with the crowd to get them dancing, or simply blend into the background for a more atmospheric approach.
Matthew has worked in a variety of reading pit-band settings with the University of Chichester Musical Theatre Society in productions of The Wedding Singer, Spring Awakening, Songs for a New World and showcases including music from Hamilton, Mary Poppins, Oliver and more.
Most notably, Matthew played bass with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra during a university collaboration with the group. Matthew has also played been the house bassist for the Login Lounge Jazz Jam and performed at Concorde and Chichester Jazz Clubs with a jazz quartet Spaceflight.
